群體智慧有個很苛刻的前提: 一群人必須各自獨立做判斷,彼此之間不受影響。

現實的問題是 大多數決策根本不是獨立做出來的。

人會互相影響,會觀察別人怎麼想,會根據群體反應調整自己的判斷。

當一個群體裡的每個人都在參考別人,而不是直接面對事實時,所謂的“群體智慧”就會變成“群體失真”。

模仿是人性裡非常深的一部分。

文化夜市靠模仿在社會裡傳遞。 但問題是,很多錯誤,偏見和荒謬的共識,也同樣是通過模仿被擴散和放大的。

如果你想做真正偉大的事,就必須有能力逆着人群走。

他們厲害的地方,不是更擅長追隨共識,而是更能承受自己和大多數人不一樣。

How to have a hard conversation

  • Remember showing up imperfectly is better than not showing up at all

+ avoiding the hard conversations ensures comfort.

Confronting them invites growth, which do you value more?

  • Define key terms being discussed in the hard conversation.

+ If your partner isn’t texting you enough … what does ‘enough’ mean to you?

If it’s regarding your performance at work, how does your boss define ‘productivity’?

Often our conflicts are fuelled by miscommunication more than anything else.

  • Replace judgement with curiosity.

+ Curiosity turns an argument into a conversation.

Instead of rushing to make your point, urge for more clarification.

Replace rebuttals with, “I want to fully understand. Can you explain that to me a bit more?”

  • Allow room for silence. Even if it’s uncomfortable.

+ Silence to process is better than speaking just to speak.

This also gives the other person the opportunity to fly finish their thought.

Be kind t women, not nice

  • kindness is controlled strength, you lead, you provide structure,

You show respect without bending your spine

  • niceness is weakness, you over-give, you beg for approval, you drown her in compliments hoping for scrapes of validation
  • Kind men attract women. Nice men repel them. One is masculine power, the other is desperate slavery.
